Thanksgiving Prep

I haven't been blogging about my Food or Home much for almost two weeks now. I had a pretty nasty cold for about a week, and then last Tuesday when I started cooking dinner, I had a little slip with the knife and part of the tip of my finger off! It was pretty bad (for my tolerance) and I was unable to finish making supper. And to be honest I was a bit leary to pick up a knife again for a couple days! Luckily for us my finger is healing quickly (thanks to Polysporin Quick Healing cream with Pain Reliever!).

Today is the day before Canadian Thanksgiving and the Hubs and I are cleaning house preparing for our company tomorrow. We're just having a small thanksgiving celebration with the Hubs' brother and girlfriend, her sister and boyfriend, and another close friend. But I'm really excited because another cook will be joining me in my kitchen tomorrow to prepare the dinner! Since I am mostly incabable of successfully cooking any traditional food, I am most fortunate that my "SIL" has volunteered to prepare and cook the turkey!

Today I've made a Carrot Ginger soup for an appetizer, and a Potato Tart for a side dish to the turkey! I also have some left over Wild Rice & Mushroom mix left over in the freezer from another supper. I'm thinking I might make some type of buns with it...We'll have to see what happens between now and tomorrow afternoon, but I'm very excited to share this holiday with some great new friends and family!

I had to make sure my soup turned out, so I tried a bowl and paired it with a grilled cheese sandwhich; Jalapeno Cheese bread, cheddar slices, and a few Pea Shoots which complimented the ginger in the Carrot Soup.
